Default HID question, about infinity projector lenses.

I'm trying to plan out my method on putting HID's into my car. (99 T/A)

I found an old thread where a guy put infinity FX35 projectors into his stock housing relatively easy.

I found a set of evilbay for a decent price, but I am having trouble finding an HID kit for it. It appears that they came with D2S HID bulbs factory? and all I can find in the D2S bulb flavor is HID bulbs.

My question is do I need to buy an HID conversion kit that will "plug" into the D2s plugs?

Or am I retarted and there is an HID kit that utilizes D2S bulbs?

Thanks!

From what I understand D2S bulbs are factory HID bulbs. In another words, a D2S HID kit will fit in those projectors and solve your situation.

For best output, stick with 4100K - 5000k (OEM is 4100K-4300K). 8000k is too blue and has lower output. The K number is the color, not the brightness (although higher K is bluer/purpler and lower output).

D2S is a real HID bulb, not a conversion kit bulb.

You can get OEM D2S bulbs or aftermarket kit bulbs. The OEM bulbs (ex: Philips & Osram) are higher quality (longer life & lower heat). The Phillips 85122 (and 85122+) bulb is a bulb that many people recommend.

Also, that HID kit is too expensive. You can get a real OEM D2S setup for less than that. DDM has aftermarket kits for $85.

Check out the forums at HID Planet for more info on projectors and HID. Plenty of good info there and plenty of retrofits where so you can see what others have done. I'm on there with the same screen name.

How much are you paying for the projectors? You can get a pair of FX bi-xenon projectors for $170 from The Retrofit Source. They also have package deals with bulbs and ballast.

They are on evil bay for 40 right now, or 120 buy it now.

I'll check out that site and do some more research! Thanks!!
