Default Best Replacement Valve Springs for Stock LS6 ?

Seem to be a lot of scuttlebutt on LS6 valve spring failures on 2002 Z06 Corvettes.

What is the best replacement valve springs for a stock LS engine?
  • PAC 1218
  • PAC1518
  • Comp 918
  • Other????

Seems double springs would be overkill for a stock set-up.

Again - this is a stock engine. I do not want to place place unecesary stress on the rest of the valve train.

I spent a lot of time searching - and found lots of good information. However - a lot of the folk seem to have cam modified engines which have diffent spring requirements.

Thanks !

Are you planning to keep the stock camshaft in place, or swapping down the road?

PAC 1218 would be fine, if you step up the camhaft the spring is rated to .600 lift or the 1518 is rated to .650 lift. Both are direct drop in replacements.

im pretty sure that after 2004 gm tackled that issue. So any new ls6 valve springs after 2004 should be updated and not have issues

I would run the Comp 918's. or PAC 1218. Drop in and good to go with your stock LS6 Camshaft. My buddy did this about a year ago with some 918's. Duals are overkill.
