Default DETAIL: '00 Black C5 FRC

I got a call the night before a previous detail customer to see if I could schedule a clean up on this C5. It was just bought by the new owner and they brought it over Thursday morning. Needless to say, the surface looked pretty rough on arrival.

In addition to the surface resto project ahead, the vinyl trim over top of each wheel opening, gill inserts in the side of the hood, and clear protective vinyl off the front nose was peeled off.

After a thorough surface cleaning, we got a chance to see what in store.

With the heavy blemishes, I used the FLEX/LC 6" purple foam/Meguiars M105 combo first followed by PC/LC CCS 5.5" orange pad/Menzerna SIP. The Menzerna combo removed the vast majority of the marring induced by the Meguiars compounding.

Default Part 2

Once completed with the orange pad and inspected the results for satisfaction, I followed up with the Meguiars M205/black pad to restore the clarity and smooth the surface even more. To complete today's treatment, I put on the TC-3 Sealant xP using a red 4" CCS hand pad. Tires were dressed with our water based TC-15 Tire/Rubber Dressing.

Questions/comments welcomed.

WTF was up with those "wood" inlays? Nice work as always on the exterior, that thing needed a lot of TLC. Didn't look like the previous owner cared about it whatsoever.

Those rims are ugly as sin. Another awesome job on the detail. I just need some money to get some products off you.

I found that hazing on the driver's headlight after removing the clear film from the front end. Your can still see remnants of the adhesive still there after removal. I polish them as the rest of the paint surface.

Same on the interior when I removed the fake wood grain panels. I had to use a solvent-based adhesive remover and carefully scrape of the adhesive after it softened.

As for the wheels, they would not be my choice. But I cleaned/dressed them as they were part of the detail.
