Default Should I dump my 243s for 317s?...

Like the title says...should I get rid of my 243s for a set of 317s? I plan on running them unported at first..would I be hurting or helping my setup? (ls2 pt88) and does anyone know what the comp ratio would be on a stock LS2 block with these heads and some MLS gaskets?

Unless running E85 or race gas I would say yes on the 317's. The 243's are probably worth a little more $ than the 317's.

317's are better, less prone to detonation due to valve shroud.

the 243 heads a worth quite a bit more then the 317's. but it is always best to have a big combustion chamber and raise the compression if needed with the piston.

317 you can get for around 150 bucks, they are easy to find because they come in allot of the chevy trucks equipped with the lq4/lq9 6.0 motors. the 243's only come in the gto's, vettes, and i think the cts-v Cadillac and they usually got for $350+

Check a junkyard for the 317s, lately on here people are asking stupid amounts for them, like no less than $225 to $300, dont pay over $150 for a set. Your 243s you can sell for at least $350.

I found someone to just buy them outright. I dont mind buying a new set of springs anyways. One question I do have though is I bought 1piece chromoly pushrods and used them with my heads...am I going to need to change them?
