Default Dash Question

How hard is it to remove the off sliver pieces from the dash?

From looking at my Haynes manual, its seems fairly simple - It states to remove the dashboard side covers (this is on an Impala - I don't know if we need to remove them on the a Monte) then use a trim stick to go behind the silver trim and release the clips.

It seems simple, but I am always scared of removing trim due to the possibility of breaking a couple clips and causing a rattle.

I hate how it looks like there should be a silver trim piece over the far right grill but there isn't. Thinking of painting them?
