Default Where To Find Stock Upholstery?

I just put a set of '97-'99 cloth Firebird seats in my Z28. I'd like to recover my door panel inserts to match the seats perfectly. Anyone know where to find the stock upholstery or recreation that matches the '97-'99 Firebird cloth interior? Is this something a local uphostery shop might stock or can order, or is finding something like that gonig to be next to impossible?

I've got a place locally that can get it. I'll grab the number for them tomorrow, their website is down.

Send me a pic of the material you're wanting to match, and what year and car it came out of.

I'll be sending you a PM in a minute.

If you have to clip a small peice from under the seat and send it my way and we'll make sure it matches before you go buying material... I'm sure its not cheap.

Thanks man!

I looked up my local upholstery shop, and apparently, we have a pretty good one...they've been in business since 1919...who knew?! Anyway, they matched it up to their samples and ordered me a yard of it. It was $60 for a piece 36" x 54" but it's a perfect match.

I paid my local shop $90 labor/materials to recover the 2 inserts...that was after I paid $60 for the matching Firebird material.

Here's a link on how to do it yourself though:

Thanks! That write-up was JUST what I was looking for. Spent the entire day re-upholstering my seats with black and orange factory covers I got on E-bay for $750. They came with orange vinyl for the door panel inserts but no instructions. Seats came our beautiful. tomorrow I'll tackle the door panels. Thanks again. Wayne 1998 z-28 SS

I thought about doing it myself, but then I realized the uphostery was too thick, and I would need to take off the stock upholstery on the door inserts to make what I wanted work, and then I figured out I would need to add padding, use spray adhesive, and more products to put it back together, and I wasn't sure I could make it perfect even after all that. I figured I'd spend another $30 in materials to do it myself, so I then thought an extra $60 to have a professional do it wasn't too bad AND I knew it would be perfect, so that's why I changed my mind and let a pro do it. I should pick my door panels back up on Mon., so I'll be able to say how they came out then.

Good luck on your install!
