Default ***Cartek C5 Vette 8.98 at 158 (Video)

Still running the custom rear-mount single turbo and a Cartek forged 402 LS2 with a 4L80E trans and stock IRS .

Made some shakedown runs on low boost(13lbs) the other day , ran a few 9.0's at 158 , and an 8.98 at 158.63 , which was a new best MPH for my car , the car is still a pig at 3700+lbs , really nothing I can do for weight reduction other than losing weight myself until I can afford to switch to a 15-inch wheel set up and lighter Strange brakes .

Previous best ET was 8.87 on 19lbs of boost . I'm running different heads , cam and switched from stock exhaust manifolds to custom 1-7/8 shorty headers , the car is making 876RWHP at 13lbs of boost running off a 9lb wastegate spring , I can go up another 6lbs with a bigger spring , but I'm having trouble hooking now , so may only go up another 3-4lbs and see what happens . I need a boost controller and a few other things to really dial this beast in , so for now I'll have some fun with it the way it is .

Here's the Video > www.cartek.net/videos/stealth898.wmv

Yes , I want to change the spindle in the back and run a 15-inch tire/wheel /lightweight brake set up like a few other C5 guys are running , maybe sometime next year .

Mike, that's a great time off the gates. An electronic controller would really help the traction problem and make the car much quicker/faster.

Thanks , At this level there's a lot of little things I need to do to put the power down and make the car more consistent , all it takes is money and I spent way more than I planned to on the car this year , so my budget is pretty much non-existent right now . I definitely want to put an AMS-1000 controller in it ASAP , trying to sell some things to come up with the money for it .

You wont regret it. Having the proper electronics makes everything easier. What are you running for a turbo?

That MPH is sick bro! I would like to put a 15" rim out back too but I don't want to give up the power brakes or ABS. I wonder if we could adapt the Camaro rear brakes to work?

Glad that GT88 we built you has done good. Let us know when your ready to upgrade. Although I think you got a nice setup, and probably doesn't need any changing.

Thanks ! I'm sure I'll upgrade it at some point , but I can't hook the power I have now , once I get that figured out I'll start thinking about more turbo .

Thumbs up

Once again some very strong track performances Mike, and it's not even set on anywhere near 'kill mode' yet.

Already being the quickest/fastest 4 speed overdrive Corvette out there right now (and still driven to the track too no less ), one can only imagine just what it might do if you were to ever go with a Powerglide and reduce some of it's plump 3700+ pounds a little bit as some of the other 8 second guys have.

Mike I am doing great!! I still have the Vette. Going back and forth between the Supra and the Vette is costly. Had a mishap racing the Supra and already building another motor for it. If all goes well she will be back up next month. The Vette needs cosmetic work and trying to find out why the car shuts off sometimes when I go WOT. Cant seem to get it to do it when I am logging... Checking the usual stuff. Reading post like yours keep me going...
