Default Should I bend my spindle back straight?

I hit a curb on my front drivers side. Busted the steering rack and replaced it. Took it for an alignment and they cannot get anything better than +1.5deg camber. I took apart both sides and the left spindle is bent about 2". My friends suggest bending it back insteady of buying a used one from a junk yard that might be bent, too. I can probably have it done at the machine shop at my work.

Any comments or advice?

I would recommend replacing it.

I say get a replacement. . . . Yeah, it sucks. . . But, I don't know how you can bend it back to original.

I'm not sure if the spindles are forged or cast. If it's forged you might get away with it, if it cast forget it. Best bet is to get one from a bone yard.

You should get a new one. Bending it back will weaken it. If you bend a paper clip back and forth, you'll get the same effect. (The paper clip gets weaker and weaker each time you bend it.)

definitely replace. you can take your old one to the junk yard, and/or call around the junk yards and find a junk yard that has multiple spindles. you can line them all up on a table and see which are the least bent if any of them are. if you use your current bent spindle for comparison, it should be relatively easy to find a good one. the v6 f-body uses the same spindle, so any spindle that works is the same spindle you bent.

in dallas i have found spindles ranging in the price of $30 to $150 for a used one. gmpartsdirect lists a new one at $200, so if you can't find a used one less than $100, just buy a new one.

Have to agree with everyone else. You need to replace it.

I would just buy new. Our stock spindles are pretty weak and I wouldn't waste my time with a junk yard.
