WS-7 Rebadging
I just wanted the T/A guys opinion. I live is an area which is prodominatly ricers and we have a local WS-6 that pretty much dominates the track. There is one supercharged Mustang that gives him a good run once in a while, but that is it. Anyways, the subject of rebadging came up on a local website......and some ricer brought up the WS-7 rebadging. Saying that it was portraying that it was a WS-6....and is just as fake as the local dummies running Skyline badges on their G35/G37s.
Just for background info, I have a WS-9. It looks like a WS-6 because of the hood, but I have no badges indicating anything at all, only OEM T/A door badges. Anyways, I have a OEM Ram Air hood with some Z06 rims. It was a total rebuild due to the previous owner crashing it, basically stock other than exhaust. I do plan to upgrade the intake box, suspension, and headers. Once that was done, I was planning on the WS-7 badging....basically saying that it is a WS-9 converted to WS-6, but not claiming to be something that it is not.
So....I don't want to be a poser, but it pissed me off that these dumb@sses get their @ss kicked every weekend by a real WS-6, so they decided to rip on the T/A guys. My point is what are WS-6 owner's feeling on a WS-9 with a total conversion to WS-6 or better then parts then running a WS-7 badge?

for one, the ws9 option is the trans am option, iirc. so basically every trans am is a ws9. its your car man, do what you want, im nat here to tell you otherwise. but on the other hand how many ss, ws6, srt, whatever clones do you see (even nostalgic muscle) and think "damn man, had me fooled, looked like a clean ss" just my way of putting it.
then again, i have a ws6, and when i get done with this deployment, parts are guna fly. not to mention, badges are getting pulled....i dig it when people say "nice firebird" hahaha

WS9 means you have a Firebird with a V8 therefore all V8 Firebirds (Formula & Trans Am) will carry the WS9 RPO. WS7 is a 1979 RPO for the WS6 suspension w/o 4 wheel disc brakes.
As far as your local kids flaming you because your not a WS6, Like Y2K said Who Cares.

WS-7 badging offends me on the deepest level. It goes against my religion and everything that is good and decent in the world. Just kidding. I voted I'm indifferent. If you want WS-7 badges, go ahead. If you want to paint flames on your car likes a million other cars have, go ahead. The only way I would have any problem w/ rebadging is if someone made changes to their car to make it look like a WS-6 (or firehawk or whatever else), put that badging on it and then tried to sell it at the price of the real thing w/o telling the buyer.

I have an 01 T/A WS6 and my son has a 93 Formula with several mods. He placed the WS7 badge on the back of his. I have no problem with this. I think and have read in other forums that it's acceptable to use the WS7 badge on a modified Firebird. Like said before, it's your bird, do what makes you happy.

I'm gonna put ZR1 badges on my Trans Am to make it faster.
It's your car, dude. Put whatever badges on it you like. There are no rules on what is "allowable" short of trying to fake another model car to sell it - that's fraud.
So, don't put Z/28 badges on your '69 6 banger Camaro and try to sell it as a super rare all original Z/28. But if you think the WS7 badge looks cool - go for it. To me all "WS7" means is "not-WS6".
How about WS8 badges? WS11? Cuz, you know, my car goes to 11.

A guy I knew had WS-7 badges on his car and I have a WS-6 we'd go places and people would always talk to him about his car and I'd usually just get the "Nice Car" and they'd go to his. The cars were identical in appearance same color and everything. The badges got him a lot of conversations. My car was faster than his, I have an LS6 he still had the LS1 both with bolt ons. I thought it was pretty cool for him. Hell I met him because of those badges, I asked him what the hell a WS-7 was for 4th gens, I knew it was an old option code but it wasn't used on the 4th gens.

Try this for the emblems. They are good quality.

Thanks for all the input. I currently don't have any badging on my WS-9. My friend's WS-6 badge just got stolen or fell off (I doubt that). Anyways, I think its just an added cost that I can be putting towards speeding the car up. It would be a cool novelty item, but I doubt that I would ever spend the money on badges. Besides, I noticed several T/A owners voted that the WS-7 badging offends them. So, if I do go with badging one day, I will put the WS-9 custom badges on it.
Besides, most of the people in my area are oblivious to American muscle. Most of them ask "is that the WS-6?", I say "no, it is a WS-9"....they always follow up with "Oh, you got the upgraded model"...lol
In fact, I think that will be my new byline.

I have a WS9 emblem that I'm selling. It's used, but I reconditioned it and put new 3m adhesive tape on the back. The photo is not that great, but it looks real nice in person.
