Default New HAL 90/10 "R" Series shock's...

Does anyone have these yet?..and do you have to use the stupid HAL spring's and adjustable stuff?...I hate adjustable coil overs..Just wondering if I could pull the stock strut out and slap in a hal?..I know the spring perch has to be modified..but other than that?..also it says it has a fixed compression of 90/10 and adjustable rebound...well if it's a fixed 90/10 shock how the hell is the rebound adjustable?..Thank's

Ordered mine last week, I can't wait to get them. What is a good setting to start with on the street, around 6-7?

i run mine at 5 on the fronts.

Thunder racing sells modified perches if you don't want to do yours, then just send yours back to them. i put my stock springs back on and love it. i saw too many problems from the qa1 spring. do a search on the spring and you will see what i mean.

Ya, I didn't bother with the QA1 springs. Seems everybody hates them on a daily driver. I'm just going to modify the perches myself and reuse my Hypercoils. Did you guys have to get an alignment after you did swap, I don't plan on changing the ride hiegth from whrere it's at now.

Well, the car definately transfers weight a lot better I'll say that! The coilover springs make the car ride kind of bouncy in front, but the car does handle better than before. I've tried 6 and 8 up front on my R series shocks and 8 works better than 6 so far. The R series are 15 way adjustable, not 12 way like the normal QA1's

Just put them in last week but since the motor isn't in the car, it's kinda hard to test them out.

I have them and the hal springs, do alot of street driving with no problems. its not bouncy at all.I set them on 7 for street and 2 for wheels up launch!

I think they ride better on the street than the stock set up.

I've been running them for the past 5 weeks set at 1 and have had no problems at all..The car launch's very nicely at the track with the 90/10 valving..Also running the Hal springs and so far the ride hasn't been to bad at all...

Yeah, I have the Qa1 springs with no problems. What's all this talk about them not being good? Why, and for what reason?

the hal r,s are not a fixed comp shock they are always 90/up the adjustment is for how fast they return thats the 10 [i.e. car drops] to their start postition, according to the manufacture. if there bouncy on road its probably some of you are leaving them on the faster return[the lower #s], those that talk about handleling problems well under normal conditions with them tight there fine but not what your used to in a regular shock ,BUT this a DRAG shock ,if you want the best of both worlds than put the regular hals in, as for spring problems we have quite a few in cars reg and drag once spring is settled, and hieght set we havnt had any complaints or seen any problems. thnx

if i get the drag only spring and shock, will it make my car sit lower in the front?? and what is all this about the springs not being good??

and i might just get the r series shock and keep my stock spring.. is that still a good set-up for a goood weight transfer??

i am going to get some real quick and still dont know!!

and what are the perches you have to modify?? and how hard is that??

thanks, sorry so many questions!

The ride height is adjustable so don't worry about that. You can run the R series with stock springs, but it will hinder your launch. Don't expect to hit corners hard with that setup though. It will be a decent drag setup for the street though.
