Default Truck manifolds WITHOUT moving alternator. =)

Cut the flanges off and welded vbands inside and out and it its going to allow me to keep the alt. in the stock spot and run these manifolds. (this sames me so much aggrivation) I cut the little tab off the alternator just for a little extra clearance. My friend does my welding and according to him he has to go through a certain process when welding mild steel(only) to cast iron. He did a set of manifolds for a turbo'd LS1 nissan 240 last year and they havent cracked yet. Also, my manifolds will have no weight on them since im mounting the turbo to the side of the car and running solid mounts(going to use some flex in the cross over piping.)

My fuel lines go right where the alt. would go..so doing this saves me another headache of finding the right spot for it.

I agree.I think it looks much cleaner in the stock spot. I also plan on doing a fender mount power steering res. as well to get rid of that UGLY yellow GTO res.

Are you asking if thats what was done? The iron was preheated prior to welding. And it was tig welded inside and out.

I did this yesterday with 3" v-bands. I had to fill a couple spots when welding but it turned out pretty dam slick.
I welded the inside also to make it smoother in there.
