Default NGK TR55 vs TR6's ?

Anyone have any input as to why the colder TR6's should benefit over stock replacement TR55's. I'm running stock heads & cam, ls6 intake, 85mm BBK TB, Jet hot long tubes, LS1 edit, MSD coils & wires, 3000 Vigilante, shift kit, 3.73 gears and suspension stuff. Runs 12.30's at 110.00. Developed knock sensor code and misfire ( don't wash your ls1 engines with water guys ) so had to pull the manifold, front KS rusty and corroded !
Long story, but looking for the misfire, my tuner put TR6's in it and I wanna go back to the hotter plugs..............Any thoughts?

Thanks

If your tuner knows the MSD coils well he could have optimized the dwell tables for the TR6s. Unlikely but possible.

Good thought, but I didn't have the MSD's on when I did the edit, one of the stock coils took a dump after the tune and I replaced them all with the MSD's.

Does this hold true w/ mild H/C setups as well? The car in question will have its 806's ported soon on top of a 219/230 607/.604 117 lsa cam.

A very loose rule of thumb is for ever 100hp you add over stock you should go 1 heat range colder with the plug. Thats a very loose rule and can differ with every application.

I agree, that's the general rule. I've heard of going to the TR55IX which are the irridiums but not the TR6's.

My tuner installed them when he did the LS1 edit, I don't know why, I've replaced them with TR55GP's

GP's are Platinum, for only a buck more than the regular 55's
