Default Ls1 oil pump replacement.. pump choice?

Ok from looks of it , the oil pump is shot and needs to be replaced. I noticed some noises near the bottom end and saw my pressure gauge acting up when i slowed down and when i accelerated. The biggest was when i was sitting still and the pressure slowly began to fall but luckily i made it home and didnt tear any **** up.
The car is a 95 Z28 with a 98 LS1 from a T/A and has about 125,000 miles on it. Ive been driving the car just fine for about a year and a half now with the conversion but because the LS1 sat up for over a year, various parts have randomly gone out.
What kind of oil pump should i get? Ive heard the stock 98, 99, 00 oil pumps didnt produce much pressure as the newer ones and arent as reliable. Also what else you i think about replacing since im gonna have it torn apart like that? Im not camming it. ANY help would be greatly appreciated.

Go with either a Melling or an LS6 ported. I have the Melling and I can say it is a great product no issues at all. I am running the HO+18% that way I have no issues with oil pressure but I added at catch can to relieve some of the pressure in the heads.

We have a ported and shimmed LS6 pump. It offers more pressure and more volume without any clearance issues between the timing chain or front cover. Issues that we have seen with other aftermarket pumps. It is a nice upgrade for everything from a cam only build to a big cube stroker motor!

The melling is a better casting than LS6 and the 10296 flows 18% more than a ls6. Good luck with mine so far......

Just a bit of useless info here but I measured the opening in the block at the pump exit (block entrance) and it is smaller than the exit hole in the pump body. There is a shoulder there becuase of this and I wondered if the hole in the block was opened to match if it would increase oil flow.

im still not sure how its sealed against the block without using an o ring, its like 2 machined faces. i just installed my lingenfelter high volume pump i shimmed it .100 and ported it and installed black o ring with oil pump girdle, its running about 65 psi on idle, runs great

I am going through a similar thing.
Have been offered a LS2 oil pump - will it fit my LS1 engine?
