Default derale 4l80 trans pan with cooling tubes or tci pan..

Derale pan looks interesting advertising a big cooling effect. Anyone tried one? Is it too low for normal height car. ?
Was thinking one of these or maybe tci cast aluminum pan with external fins..Oh and can't believe my gm 4l80 pan has no drain plug.Another reason to get other pan.

MY99TAWS6,
The cast aluminum pan has great cooling properties unlike a steel pan. Not only does it hold more fluid. More fluid will allow the fluid to sit in the pan longer to allow for better cooling which will cause longer fluid life allow the trans to operate cooler and last longer. Another thing that the cast aluminum pans have is the strength. It has a super thick case and flange that will allow for perfect sealing and can take a bump in the road and not bend up!

I hope this helps in you decision.

I like the looks of the Derale pan, but I will be picking up a cast pan. I like the thick casting better, plus I like to drill and tap a hole for a trans temp sender.

I have think read derale ones are discontinued till further notice on several storefronts?
Not sure whats up with that. The extra cooling does sound interesting but losing another two inches ground clearance also worried me. So maybe should just go with the tci one that isn't that deep. A bit more cooling and the drain plug will be main reasons to go to one like the tci.I am at stock ride height but our roads are dreadful. Anyone know the stock pan height.

Quick Reply: derale 4l80 trans pan with cooling tubes or tci pan..
