Default clunking from front AND NOW rear

wth? i know this is a tough question, but i'd just like to know if this is a common occurrence. my V had some clunking coming from the front shortly after i got it. i can almost feel it in the steering wheel - the steering wheel will feel a little "light" when i feel it going over bumps. now, within these past 2 weeks, i've began to get a similar sound from the rear. are the control arms known to go bad on these or could i be looking at needing a shock replacement already. at only 58k? what do you guys think?

I have an 04 cts and it did the same thing. Its the hubs there all junk.Mine have been replaced twice. The rear axle is also junk, mine has been replaced three times and the bearings are going bad now,the transmisson had to be replaced the first week I got it,they said the gears were to soft and metal took the pump out.I purchased it new in Dec of 04. for 39,980,what a waste of money.I tried to get GM to take it back under the lemon law but was unable to but they did extend the coverage to 100,000.I know of several other cts and cts-v's with these problems.Mine has 71,000 now and it will go to goodwill when it hits 100,000.If yours is not covered get ready to spend some money.

My front end clunking was a combination of play in the hubs, and worn swaybar bushings.

^^^ i did notice that my swaybar bushings are shot. its got hotchkis on it from the previous owner so i'm not sure how to go about getting replacements. and now that you've mentioned it, i think i remember my front drivers wheel feeling kinda "loose" when i was putting my winters on... perhaps the hub. i'll take a close look.

I think Hotchkis will replace the bushings for free but dont quote me. I think another member had a similar problem and they shipped him a set asap.

I was just viewing another thread about the Hotchkis sways but the bushings didn't look anything like mine. The threads pictures are gone now but if I remember right, they looked like they were billet. Perhaps someone could confirm this for me. Either way, I'll be giving them a call tomorrow.

There was a redesign for the font bushing brackets. They added gusseting for strength. They also added a collar kit that is essential to avoiding clunk and protecting your front shocks.

I did notice that the front bar seems to be rubbing the shock a bit. I hope this didn't cause any damage.

I wouldn't worry about it unless you see fluid leaking you are good. Call them tomorrow morning and get a collar kit with the new brackets sent out (and new bushings if you need them). They will take care of you and shipping was extremely fast.
