Something about these black '00 M6 SS cars that just move. Had another buddy with one a while back that ran 12.9s bone stock and 12.6s with nothing more than a lid, cutout, and Nitto DRs.
Had a great time at the track putting the SS through it's paces for the first time at Beech Bend, and even got to meet PGA Tour Golfer Kenny Perry, who is one of my favorite golfers (the other being Tiger).
With as many times as I've been to the track in different cars I've owned and ran a countless number of 1/4 mile passes, this was the first time I've ever driven any manual trans car at the track (aside from goofing off once in my old beater '95 Neon on the way to a blazing 16.1 second pass, LOL). It was quite an experience, but one I definitely enjoyed more.
Waiting in the staging lanes. Raceweight was 3630 with me in the driver's seat (185 lbs).

First run was straight off the street after the drive up to Bowling Green and I bogged really bad on the launch. Second run was after a cooldown, and I still bogged, but was getting the hang of what the car wanted. The third run I brought it up to 5500rpm and did a quick slip on the clutch. It spun a little, but moved out much better. Unfortunately I missed 4th gear trying to really cram it in, and coasted to the traps. :(

As you can see as I noted on the timeslips, the car was consistently picking up 2.06-2.07 from 1000' to the end of the 1320', meaning if I hadn't missed the gear, the third run would have been a 12.97-12.98 second pass. Not too shabby for a car that basically just has a lid + cutout on 19" wheels and street tires. :)
Now it's time to get the plugs, wires, fuel filter, and rear diff + trans fluid changed out, because I think all of that stuff is original with 102,000 miles on it and definitely not helping me. Between those things, getting the LS6 intake on, pulling some weight (!EGR, !AIR emissions pump, lighter battery than this monster Optima Yellow Top), and getting it tuned, I think the car should be solidly in the 12s @ 110+, most likely around 12.7-12.8 @ 111-112. Oddly enough that's the best the GTO ever ran (12.7 @ 112) and that was on a much better 1.8X 60' time. I love this SS. :)
