Well, other than the other parts needed to make up a complete engine, you'll need to drill and tap a hole on the driver side of the block. I think it's for the power steering.
I think on older blocks, the cam sensor is at the rear of the block while newer blocks have it on the front cover. You may need a conversion kit if the block is newer.
Also, head bolt holes are different on newer blocks, as well as cam bearings.

ur t-56 should bolt up no problem .. as far as ur asscerories everything should work. manifolds etc etc basically ls block and the lq series blocks are the same just ones iron the other alum and the lq is like the child of the ls1 series

No, the iron 6.0L, depending on the year, has two different head bolt designs.
1997 - 2003 has one design and 2004 up uses a different one.

The crank issue you were thinking about is the 99 and some 2000 LQ4s that have the iron heads. They have a longer crank and were mated to 4L80es. They can not be run with a 4L60e. Not sure about a T56, but I imagine you would have the same problem. Just stay away from the long crank block and you will be safe. Course if you just have a bare block this won't matter to you.

As stated earlier. 99 and 00 blocks have longer cranks made to mate up to 4l80e trans. You can use any year block as long as you are not going to use the crank since that is what is different. You do need to know what year the block is so you can get the right head bolts. 2004 is the change over year where they all became the same length. I did a 2002 LQ4 and they had different lengths.

Do you not understand what a head bolt pattern is? The placement of the head bolt holes in the Engine blocks deck.
