Default Side by side TH350 - TH400

I have found all the dimensional images, but I am curious about the taper of the TH400 bellhousing. In my 240 the TH350 is just about on the firewall at the top center right where the bell tapers down.

I am thinking about upgrading to a TH400 because I just cooked the TH350.
I am prepared to modify my cross-member and weld it up with a longer plate, and have my DS yoke changed and the shaft shortened.

Does anyone have any side by side real shots of these trans? The 2D length shots don't show me the taper, height and width. I dont want to have to cut the firewall and weld it to fit a 400.

I just swapped my TH350 for a TH400 and took this pic. The swap was really easy and nothing needed to be modified except for the DS.

From that angle the taper down looks about the same, or could be fixed with a BFH. What stage rossler trans did you go with, their stage 2 seems like a good deal.

I actually think the 400 fits the tunnel better than the 350 did. I run a blanket and can get it on and off on the 400. Not the case with the 350 bolted up.

My 400 is a Terminator 2 with "Billet Aluminum High Gear Drum" upgrade.

I am on the market for a TH and converter. Looking for full manual, reverse shift, 3800 stall. Something where if I do boost the car I can refin the converter and be good to go.

The 400 seems like a better unit for the abuse over time.

Your trans guy has a good rep, I might order a 400 from him.
