I am going to take advantage of the monster clutch sale, However I am torn between the aluminum or steel flywheel I don,t know what would be best for my needs.

I have a 82 Corvette ls1 T56 with 4.11 Gears. car is about 3000 Pounds.

I plan for this car to be a Daily Driver but what I want to know is what are the pros and cons of each

Pros and cons of Aluminum flywheel?
Pros and cons of Steel

I plan to swap out the stock LS1 for a 402 ls2 and stage 3 243 heads and a TQ V2 cam in about two years, but for now the LS1 is stock but might get upgraded with heads and cam that I can swap to the 402 later.

Price is not a issue btw its only about a 50 dollar difference

with a light weight flywheel your rpm's will fall a lot quicker. if your looking for daily driving or drag racing most people prefer the steel flywheel.

at 3000 lbs, aluminum will be fine....

+1 with that weight you will be fine. I weigh more than that, and love mine. IF you can power shift good, there is no worry. But if you granny shift thats when the RPM drop will be noticed.

I replied to this in another thread, but Monster does not offer aluminum flywheels any more. Their lightweight FW is an 18lb billet steel F/W, versus the standard weight 28lb. More durable than aluminum, and can be resurfaced a couple of times if needed. I have one in my 3500lb DD GTO, and I love it. The rpm's do not fall between shifts if you shift quick enough... but seriously, it has not been a problem for me. I let my wife drive the car tonight, and she did just fine with it. I'm still running stock 3.46 gears too BTW.
