How did your racing season go?
The title says it all, so how'd everyone do? Any personal bests or new records? Bracket racers, good or bad season? Anyone break anything?
Me-
The good- 3 wins, 3 runner-ups, 7th place finish in points at my local track, a gold wally to add to the collection of 2 previous ones and a trip to Pomona, CA to participate in the national finals. Most of the late year stuff came with the Formula, as the bad explains.
The bad-almost 7 grand in expenses, including replacement of my 7-year-old bullet in the Nova. Car was down for only 3 weeks from blow-up to new motor in and running, but the 11s require safety equipment I didn't have, so the new motor has only seen 12 runs total and a few hundred street miles so far.
The off season- car now has a 5-point roll bar, and I've freshened up the interior. Of course the Formula still gets the 450 miles a week put on it without a break And hopefully I'll break into the 10s next year with a small shot of juice!

First year back after my daughter's crash of June, 2002. We built a 1994 Z28 with the crash LS1 and other parts as a donor. The new car didn't win a whole lot (mostly due to driver error), but it ran much faster than the old Formula. Right now with just a cam, stock heads and 4.10's in a 9" the car runs steady 9.7's in good air on 1,000 feet (add about 2 sec for 1/4 mile). Lots of potential.
And its a kick to drive to work too.
All in all a very good year to get back to the track.

Great year for me
11.1@124mph 1.50 sixty all motor at 3514 pounds.
Lost a couple of stock lifters and ended up tweaking a couple of valves as a result.
Had the heads fixed and decided to make the car a little more streetable.
Went with Comp R lifters, sold the 12 bolt with spool (replaced with stock rear and 3.73's) putting in a quieter WS6 dual outlet muffler (with cutout of course) new battery, AC back in and going to race on DR's.
Best street trim time on STREET tires with stock rear and 3.73's was 12.1@122mph with a 2.1 sixty spinning till third
Overall I am very happy with the car. Looking to make a few changes this spring. Goal is 11s@121-122mph on street tires in full street trim and mid 11's@123mph on DR's.
Going to recheck preload, retune the car, pressure test the coolant system (check for headgasket leaks) and make sure everything is cool with the clutch/master

not real great for me. spent the first few months of the season battling with head gasket issues, and then ended my season early with two bumperstands that really took thier toll along with some minor engine damage.
did have a few highlights though, ran a 10.46@128 on motor, won a bracket race, new best 60' of 1.33 on the back tires just foot braking, and made my first 9 second passes

not a great year but ok, i finished 4th in points at the track. i went to the division 3 finals and lost 4th round to the guy who went on to win.
winter mods, im getting the 6 point cage installed, bigger cam, doing the heads, going back through the tranny, and then pulling alittle more weight out.

Yea I had a good year too. I finally hit 11's, I pulled my wheel off the ground and I made 401 to the wheels cam only. SO next year I will be a little lighter and shooting for some 11.50's.

I had 5 wins and 2 runner ups at my local track, 5th in points. I missed a few points races. Won 2 jack pot races at a different track. Won a F-body shootout at another track. And won SSA at the Thunder Shootout. I cant complain

what season?
i only made it to the track 3 times, once with my old heads/cam/Th400, once with the new heads/cam..then it blew up..then once late in the year for shakedown with new motor and the 6 speed back in. I spent the whole year wrenching between going to new heads/cam and a k frame and then a whole new motor and swap back to M6 and stock interior..all by myself..LOT of wrenching this last season

Cool post.
I had a good season. Won 1 out of 3 finals and finished 3rd in points even with missing 2 events.
The bad was I had to replace a hydrolocked engine and a tired transmssion.

well i went through many converters during 2003, first started off the year with a vig3600 which netted me a best pass early in the year of 11.710 @ 114.46. Went to the Spring Break Shootout to run the 12.00 index and got elimated the first round Then added a Bauer TB, ram air setup, and eventually went with a TCS4200 converter, got the car tuned by Chris Robinson and the car ran high 11's all day long in the horrible Texas heat and humidty. Eventually went with a Yank to try it out. Went to the Thunder Shootout in Novmeber, had lots of fun but dissapointed in the turnout in our bolt-on class, i placed 2nd in a 4 car feild , but the car didnt seem to be running up to par, was falling on its face on the top end.But had a new best 60' of 1.508 on DR's Was having some issues with KR and the car burning oil, but still ran high 11's ending off the year with a new best of 11.550 @ 115.36. Now just waiting for early January and some drier air to come our way...need some low humidity and higher BP. Hope to be posting about another new best in a couple of weeks when the track opens back up.
Happy Holidays everyone and have a wonderful NEW YEAR!!!

I had a up and down year. I finish my LS1 swap and started the car. I had some engine problems. That set me back a while. I wasn't able to make the North vs South. I then was up and running. I started out the year running 11.81 at 112 in the summer heat. That was with my vig 3600. I swap to a yank pt4400. I also had some trans issues. I put a new trans in and with some better air went 11.27et 118.5 mph. My goal this year was 11.50. So I'm really happy with the car. Can't wait till next year.

I had an up and down year... Won the 12 second index at the Spring Shootout. Did well at the local tracks.
Then - almost sold the car(wife staying at home with new baby son ). Took almost all the suspension goodies off of it - Hals, PA K-member, RT torque arm. Sold that stuff only for the sale to fall through. Tried for a new best last month, but only got 2 out of three.
New best 60' - 1.52 on basically stock suspension. New best in the 1/8th 7.24 @ 93, but fell .02 short of a new 1/4 best - 11.46 @ 116.6. If we would have had the tune right, more gas, yadayada...
Glad to still have the car and will be looking forward to next season with another toy - an LS1 Hybrid -details coming soon!
