853 heads and 233/239 cam?
hey guys i was just wondering if there would be any issues with ptv clearences if i install a 233/239 cam from texas-speed with modified 853 heads? the heads are milled .030 thats the only part that im concerned about. any help is appreciated thanks. also if you have any ideas as to what size pushrods ill need that would be great, ill be using ls7 lifters too. thanks again.

Flycut the pistons or go with a different cam. If it was me (depending on the budget) I would get a custom specd cam to work with the 853s but I would still measure PTV. Your going to need to measure for correct pushrod length any suggestion other then that is an Internet guess. Are these heads ported also or just milled?

Flycut if that's an option. Or else if you don't want to and a smaller cam would still meet your goals maybe go with something like a 228R or a custom grind in the low 230s. Like the man said, check that PTV clearance, you might get lucky.

With all due respect, something similar does not get you the correct lifter preload. I would hope that the outcome of a phone call to TSP would result in them telling the OP to measure because every setup is different.

Although there is a little more room with ARF heads than stock, I milled mine
.020 off and have the 228R and have room to grow if I want.
Sometimes I think Ill pull the heads and milled them another .010 and port them, then I say, crap I have 450 RWHP and 1st and 2nd are useless on the street with the 3.90s

Go with 241 heads, they are cheap, $200 on ebay and my first set up was a 232/238 600/600 109 LSA with 241 heads 59CC chambers and milled .030. Ran it until I found out the genius that put it together used the wrong lifters.

hey 02*c5 is there a big difference between the 853 heads and 241's? cause i have .030 milled off the 853's and the cam im looking at is really close to the one you were running.

Chambers = 69cc
853s are center bolt with 66.67cc chambers only difference between 853s and 241s are the methods in which they were cast.
If your car is an 02 (going by your sig) you should have 241s.
