Default Where can I buy a balancer install tool?

Posted a thread in WTB but got no bites. I want to buy the balancer install tool. The long threaded bolt with a nut on it to install a balancer. Don't want to build it myself.

Any ideas? I've searched but none really mention if they're correct for a LS1/2/3/6 etc application.

if you are interested in renting one you can use one for a chrysler to remove the pulley. it's small and pulls from the center of the pulley. to install, i wedged up the flexplate to get the pulley back on.

I'm retarded. I have the balancer removal tool. I meant the install tool. To push on the balancer. I've used the "heat up the balancer" method but I don't care for it. Just want to use the long threaded bolt to tighten it down.

618Hawk use to make and sell them here. Worked really well. Might find someone here that will sell or rent you one. Dont think he is part of this forum anymore unless he is using a different name.

Seriously, there's nothing to making one that works.

M16X2.0 threaded rod about 10" long. Get 4 nuts to go with it and a pile of washers. You'll firgure it out.

You should still heat the balancer for less stress on the install.

I used the longer bolt to get it started then finished it off with the old ttyb. Then used the new ARP bolt tightend down. You can also get rent the tool from a local parts store.

A long time ago someone found a bolt at McMaster that was long enough to engage the threads without fear of stripping them to get the pulley started, but I have looked and cannot find the partnumber, I can get the length of the bolt if you would like.

Glad this worked for for you but it is VERY risky.

I made these up tonight from the left over rod. I welded on the end nut. Would you like to swap me a front or rear ls1 cover for one? I'm going to post these in the FS section.

BTW,, I work in miami at JMH.

Holding the nut on the end with a large wrench, and then drawing down the other nut, will the engine/crank tend to rotate, or not? JMH...Jackson Memorial? I know Dr. Greg Jackson. Thanks

I've only installed one but yes, holding the welded on nut with a large wrench keeps the crank from turning and allows the balancer to be pushed on. I'm also a believer in heating the balancer first as well.

I'm an IT consultant so I really don't know any of the Dr.s.

Bump again. I'm not really looking for the long bolt version. What I'm looking for is the one with a threaded rod that is put all the way into the crank and then the nut is tightened spinning it down the rod.

The longer bolt version from WS6 project is simply a tomato, tomatoe issue you're still pulling on the threads in the crank to pull on the balancer. Sure you may be latching on to more but its still pulling on the threads to get it on.

I don't want to use gtpvette's tool either because I use a socket w/breaker bar to give smooth consistent pressure. With that I'd need to use an open wrench making it a far more tedious task.

I'm real confused as to what the tool looks like you're talking about. The first comment says threaded rod with a nut,, which I certinally understand,,, then the second says a socket with a breaker bar. Are you saying you're going to put a socket on the nut to run it down the threaded shaft? If so,,, how do you keep the motor from turning over??

Do you have a picture of said tool??
