Default difference between LS2 and LS7 flywheel?

I've been wondering is there a difference between the LS2 and LS7 flywheel? They come up as 2 different part numbers, but I wanna go to an LS7 clutch and pressure plate but I've heard you have top use an LS2 flywheel. But the LS7 is actually cheaper then an LS2, any input would help in this situation.

I believe it's the same.
Here's the package I went with, and I really like it!

I installed a ls7 flywheel in mine with no problems. You do not need a ls2 flywheel but it will work either way.

It will work with either a LS7 or LS2 flywheel. I got my clutch off of a LS7 crate motor so I know it will work as it bolted right up to my LS1 engine. And has been on for almost 3 years & 30k miles with no issue.

ls7 flywheel has more bolt holes connecting it to the crankshaft. you need an ls2 flywheel if you plan on using an ls7 clutch on a ls1 motor

I dont wanna contact you I wanna get rid of your clutch, its been nothing but problems since I bought it and installed it. Its only been 5k miles and its slipping and I drive the car daily. I didnt like the throwout bearings you used, I switch to a GM one and the whole clutch setup got better but still isnt what I wanted. I used it with and without the slave shim you gave me and I dont like the feeling off it. Even with your throwout bearing and slave shim it was having disengagement issues, when I took it out it was the same, it just released higher on the pedal.

OK, HuggerZ says yes the LS7 flywheel works and slayerized6 says you need a LS2 flywheel. I'm trying to purchase the LS7 kit from GM. I've got a 2002 5.3.... I sure would like to put this issue to bed. Anyone else care to comment?

The way I see it if 1997 thru 2009 is 6 bolt then I think we're safe. Why would they change the bolt pattern with the same amount holes?

OK I am going to make this real simple I installed a LS& Flywheel and clutch in my 2002 camaro Z-28. No extra holes are in the flywheel. You can get either one a LS7 flywheel or LS2 it does not matter. just make sure you get a LS7 pressure plate and clutch.

The flywheel is the same for the LS2, LS3, and LS7 vettes to my knowledge and is pn: 12571611. The LS2 equipped GTO uses the same clutch kit as an LS6 which also has the same flywheel as an LS1.

So to eliminate confusion, I would suggest ordering a complete kit like we sell here: http://www.tick-performance.com/tick...body/clutches/ or just buy LS7 specific part numbers.

spend the extra money and get a Fidanza alum flywheel.

The stock LS7 clutch assembly is over 75lbs! You'll lose 20lbs or more with the aluminum flywheel.

This all depends on what you are going to do with the car. If you are going to do hard launches and drag race it go steel the extra flywheel weight will help.

If you are planning on taking it to a road course get a aluminum flwheel (they have a ls7 package that comes with one). You wont like the aluminum flywheel on the strip.
