Liquid Glass?

Liquid Glass? O.k... has anyone opened up an engine after they poured the liquid glass in it. I am referring to the cash for clunker engines. How bad is it and is it still rebuildable or not? Of course after installing new pistons, bearings etc.

Ive blown alot of them up but we never had the time nor initiative to open one up afterwords, id like to know as well.

If it still spins over, then the chances of a locked engine are not that great.
Problem is that IF it did spin a main bearing, then you will need to line bore the block to make sure it is right for rebuild.
As for spinning rods? Who cares, you will want to use ARP hardware and resize them anyway.
Just avoid one that will not turn over.

the biggest problem with those motors is that all the oil passages get clogged with that liquid glass ****. sometimes it impossible to get it all out and after its been rebuilt you can end up frying a cam, rod or main bearing cause of it. more problems than its worth in my opinion.

I do know a guy that has a machine shop and told me he could put it in some kind of acid cleaner to clean it out. He said about 2 or 3 days of sitting in it can clean it up real good. I am going to try this and I will keep updating on my results.

well i will tell you what.. the "glass" reacts to heat... and when we did it.... i only put in about a quart... and pegged them..... they normaly threw a rod ro something else.... 
but i enjoyed blowing them up... just wish i would have swapped a low milage motor into my truck and put my 227k mile motor........ and we wrecked almost ever car 
THAT WAS FUN AS HELL......
