Who has gone to SAM and used the GI Bill? Im completely in the dark on what is going on right now. It was to my understanding that the GI Bill would cover my school and now i have talked to a lady at SAM that said the GI Bill will only cover part of the school. Can anybody who has this all figured out or has done this before help me out please. Thank you.

It depends on the GI Bill that you are going to use. I went to SAM on the Ch. 30 GI Bill and it does only pay for part of the school. Under the Ch. 30 GI Bill, I got about $1100/mo. while attending, but since the "semesters" are only 9 months, that doesn't cover the ~$15,000 tuition.
However, the new Ch. 33/ Post 9-11 GI Bill may be a different story. Under this new GI Bill, your tuition is covered, plus you get a monthly housing stipend (equal to an E-5 BAH), and $1000/yr for books. So now I go to college, tuition is paid for, and bills are paid. All I have to do is focus on school. The catch is that you have to qualify for the new Ch 33 GI Bill, depending on years in active service.
Hope that helps,
Kent

The new CH. 33 GI Bill only applies for degree colleges and universities, which is really dumb I feel. I have heard through the grapevine that they are trying to get the Ch. 33 GI Bill amended to include vocational schools, but that is all I have heard about it. Its not that we wont take the GI Bill, its just that the law makers made it so that you can only use it at certain schools
