wanna do a budget 6.0 for my S10.
I have an LQ4 @ home that I'd like to begin to tinker with a bit for my S10. I'd thought about just doing a Vortec 350 but I don't have one and I bought the 6.0 a few years back, hey why not right. Basically I'd like to get the Compression up to around 10.5:1 and slap a good cam in it with a Vic or GM intake and a MSD 6010. I thought maybe a Magic Stick 3 cam but I really honestly would be open to suggestions as I haven't settled on anything and you guys I'm sure are much more current than I.
Keep in mind the key word here is "budget". An $800 set of pistons would be great but the truck is gonna be a fun lil driver, not a racer, not a street/strip, just fun.
Thanks
James

budget ported 5.3L heads or LS6 heads ...TSP has some for just over $1000
then i'd consider a little smaller cam, something more street friendly.
maybe like a torquer 2 or F13 or F14
should make great power across the board and drive good with a tune.

Well, it's cheaper if I can just use the stock heads, they're supposed to be pretty good, obviously not like ported heads but I'm aiming for a driveable 450 fwhp. I was thinking of a good valve job on the heads and having them milled and maybe thinner head gaskets but which ones??? Thanks for the cam suggestions, I'll check texas.

Or you could use something smaller. I'd bet with 364ci, a cam in the upper 220's or low 230's duration would be great. Keep lift at or below .600". A valvejob is a good idea, and can get you some PTV if you really need it, but it will eat up valuable short turn.
