Default have $2000 to spend, what should I buy?

Like the title says, I will have about $2,000 to spend and want something fun on the weekends, I am bored of the stock power hehe. So what all should I get? I have a pretty much stock 99 ls1 TA with a slp air lid. I do have a magnaflow catback in my room waiting to be installed though. This is my DD so nothing radical, but diffidently want more than stock power. any input is appreciated. thanks

here is what im thinking:
1. LT headers/ory and install the catback
2. ls6 intake?
3. maybe a mild cam
4. maybe wet or dry shot?
5. anyway to strengthen the stock 10 bolt rear end for cheap?

Do a cam swap... valvesprings, pushrods, cam, ls6 intake, timing chain, ported oil pump, headers ypipe, dry shot, tune.... hell you could make 500hp+ with that $2000 if you search for good enough deals!

you can get some good deals here on tech on alot of that stuff i listed above!

dont mess with trying to beef up the 10bolt, SAVE for a 12bolt or 9"...

I'd say do the LT's/ORY look in the classifieds, LS6 Intake, and dyno tune. The Head and cam your going to be running into alot of money there.

If I could start over I would do suspension first. It's amazing how much better these cars can handle and feel compared to stock. The $1k I spent on suspension made a much greater impact on the car's overall performance than bolt-ons did.

anyway, i really like the longtube/ory/magnaflow combo. here's a clip of mine just because:

Thumbs up

Ported TB, LS6 or SSI intake, Kooks or ARH header & Y-pipe, and maybe a Powerbond UD pulley.

I'd go for an LS6 intake, LT's and ORY, and your magnaflow. +1 on checking the classifieds for these, i got a good deal on my longtubes that way. Then i'd do some good lowering springs and shocks, and an adjustable PHB and lca relocation brackets. You'd have more pep and handling, at or a little under 2 grand. A clutch would be cool, but then you have to get tuned for sure, and a beefier clutch to be on the safe side. That adds up a lot.

This is slightly off your question but still giving you a good idea.
I'm in the same boat as you and this is what I've purchased so far.
I've got a spec 3 clutch, fast 90/nw90, fast fuel rails, lca and relocation brackets and I'm in so far for a total of $1430 all thanks to the classified section. I plan to do cam and a set of 243 heads. You can get a set of 243 heads for roughly 5-700 plus cam, 300. That puts a high total of $2500.

However if you decide to go ls6 and port and polish your tb, you can save $500 instead of a fast 90/90 like I did. That puts you right at $2000. If you decide you don't need heads and/or fuel rails like I did. You saved another $800 bucks. You can use that to port and polish your heads and DEFINITELY a tune. Should put you right in the ballpark of $2000.

After re-reading my post, I realized that I however already have longtube and exhaust. I would definitely find a way to squeeze exhaust in there. Above all though, use the classified section on this forum. Saved me hundreds of dollars

Putting a girdle on your rear end and running a stock, taller gear will hold it into the mid elevens with an A4. Not sure how it would handle an M6. A girdle is around 160 bucks. Cheaper than a 12 bolt and it'll get you by for a while.

ok, i already have the exhaust, its setting in my room waiting to be put in. ill be getting some pacesetter coated LT headers for x-mas so all I have to get is a tsp ory and that will take care of my exhaust. what cam or specs should i look for when picking one out.... for a mild cam street set-up? is it possible to get to high 300's rwhp n/a without a bottle?

Full exhaust and then save money for heads/cam/fast intake or you can go the suspension route with some strano/koni's.

Who is doing the installs? Are you planning on doing your own cam swap? Head Swap? Dont forget a Dyno tune for the mods you do is gonna run around $400.

IF you do all the installs you can get headers ($400) ls6 intake ($300) Ported Tb ($65) Cam Package ($700) Ls2 Timing Chain ($40) Dyno Tune ($400).

There goes all your money. After that comes suspension mods, rear ends, clutch, better intake, heads, spray. The number of combos is endless.
