LCAs and relocation brackets prevent wheel hop. Wheel hop kills rearends due to unloading the tire and hooking back up. You can dead hook the car and kill the rearend as well but most guys are aware of this and will try to slip the clutch a little to get the car rolling. If it starts wheel hopping just after the car starts rolling it can kill the rearend so you put those parts on to fight that.

What you need to do is take it easy on the rear and do not break it while your saving for a 12 bolt or better upgrade. Wheel Hop will kill a rear quicker then anything and like said, the other parts are useful with any rear and I would recommend getting them anyways. BUT be aware that you can break a 10 bolt just driving it hard.....

Basically what they are saying is if the tires are spinning then its not putting as much stress on the rear end. When you hook, things break.

The facroty 10 bolt is weak so you dont want it to hook and break, get a 12 bolt or 9in

if you want it to hook up better than stock, upgrade the suspension. if your happy the way it is, don't worry about it. whether you NEED it is up to you.

I have LCA's in the rear and drag shocks I run low 1.6X 60' every time on my stock 2.73 geared 10-bolt dead hooking yanking a tire each time. I have yet to run into an issue, no noise, no clunking, etc.

Unfortunately that was not stated.... But anyways.

A A4 car does open up options but from what I see, Ring and Pinions are not being broken, but rather Posi units are dying out and leading up to the dreaded gear whine.

If he is cutting 1.7's in the 60, he will be fine for a long while, soon as you put a after market gear in there, or a decent stall w/ TQ management removed, its going to put stress on that rear and it will be on borrowed time.

There are things he can do but how much $$$ do you want to pour down the drain before manning up to something better, thats the biggest question.

those upgrades don't only improve the launch...they help handling as well.

better susspension helps improve transfer of power to the ground, regardless of whether you're trying to drag race or just drive spirited.

"need" is in the eye of the beholder
