You doing the work yourself? If you want RELIABLE, it will cost more. You get someone else to do it with forged internals, crank etc etc.. i'd say over $10k easy. There are A LOT of variables that play in to how much a forged motor build will cost you.

Be a bit more specific about your power goals and I'm sure you will get a much better answer.

I am not trying to go crazy with it. I just want to keep from blowing the motor longer when I supercharge. I will need som1 to do it for me since I dont have access to what I need anymore. I guess I would just start with the basics of it and go from there. I cant afford to pay around 20K for the SC and forging together.

I got my forged SB from texas speed, it's been great so far. I'm swaping blower pullies this winter to hopefuly brake the 600rwhp mark @ 6,000 ft elevation. I'm not worried about the bottom end one bit. Mine has forged rods/pistons, stock crank, arp main and head studs. With the 317/6.0l heads and the -4cc in the pistons I'm around 9.4:1 compression.

Engine from tsp... http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...id=42&catid=27

Also I spent about 7K building my engine... That was the SB, heads, cam, double roller timing chain, comp lifters, ls6 oil pump, studs, cometic head gaskets, all other gaskets and seals were replaced as well, ram clutch, fly wheel, and 02 slave were in the 7K.

you could save a few bucks and reuse you old heads on a forged short block. If you are not going to run over ten pounds of boost you could go with just a forged piston short block from A+A for $3500.

That sounds like a good idea. I was only gonna run about 7lbs anyways.

That will last about a week ^^^
Best advice I could give you is to build your moter and fuel system for more than you want right now. 7#'s is a gateway drug for 15#'s... Ask me how I know

Build it once build it right build it to last.

You might only want to run 7lbs right now but like Conan said that will all change with even more power being just a pulley swap away.

This might be off topic
but they do have a point
mu friend has a GS-T eclipse
and first he had it running stock 11lbs?
then he moved it to 18
now he has it at 25.
at 26lbs he gets fuel cut. (which is the only reason he dosent pick up the boost ever more).
lol
boost is Drug
dont matter if its for a v8 or a inline 4.
Boost = DRUG

But this is my everyday driver so it would be stupid for me to be running more than 10lbs in Houston.
I could go from light to light in 3 sec but thats no fun. I am just trying to figure out everything I will need to do so when I get back from Iraq I can get it all at the same time.

That's good to know. I'm planning on going forged 347 this winter, since I've got a sweet knock going. I'm going to save a little cash and just get forged rods and pistons, with ARP main/head studs, then take the motor to the machine shop and have everything done, instead of buying their shortblock. Any idea how much power the stock crank can hold? As long as it holds with your power, I don't see any problem with keeping it in mine. I doubt I'll go over 600rwhp ever.
