Default Painted Intakes

I know this is a weird question, but has anyone just sanded down their intake and painted it a gloss black? I'm about to start engine bay mods and I can't decide if I want to paint my intake red or just do a nice gloss black.

Just looking for some pics.

The red will fade, Mine has been red for about 6 months and it is looking bad. I just bought another one and painted it silver, it looks just like an aluminium intake. I didnt sand it down I just put a coat of primer then about 6 coats of silver 1500 degree paint on it.

Stangkilr, any pics you can post? I'm considering silver for my intake.

I didn't sand mine either, just cleaned it very good and sprayed it with high temp metallic silver paint. Looking back however, I would have sanded off those little cast circles on the top of each runner.

To do it right take it off and take it to a ""REPUTABLE"" shop in your area and have them do it,can be done as is,or if you want they can make it look just like a "piece of glass",the after costing more of course!!Do it yourself in about 8-10 hours if you feel "comfortable" with doing it! (SSZSLP@aol.com,if you have any questions)

I'll tell ya I have gotten DAMN good with a RATTLE CAN!!! I sprayed my Moroso Oil pan on my other hot rod and it looks like it was sprayed with a gun! It almost looks like glass! IF I would have done it in something like a paint room it would have but I got some spots on it where dust fell on it and that kinda messed it up.

you dont have to sand it down but it would help smoothen it out.
I think a gloss black would look good with your car. I painted mine the same color as my car.

I'm thinking smoothed out with gloss black will be my best bet. It will look nice with red valve covers and the other red accents. I think a red intake would be just too in your face.

it's pretty simple to remove that intake. You do have to be careful when removing it though because it is common to break the oil sending unit. I know some guys that have a spare one on hand if they know they are pulling the intake.
