Its a fairly straight-forward installation and there are quite a few write-ups avaliable online. You'd save a lot of money doing it yourself and the labour will vary from shop to shop.
If you don't feel comfortable doing the installation, call around to a couple shops near you and see which one you like best. Good luck!

Yes there are some write-ups on this, but alot of them don't give you a lot of the small details you may need to get everything just right. You can do like (BrownBoy) and call some shops near you. Good luck!

Cost
If you looked at book time that a shop may charge is 9.1 hour going by book time so it could range from $750. to $1000. for just the cam install then you have fluid $36.86 Dexcool, Oil and filter $64.93 synthetic oil remeber these are shop prices they cannt stay open for free LOL then theirs the gasket kit new harmonic balancer bolt, valve cover gasket, timing cover, then depending on the cam you have valve springs $265. then the install on them $250.
But those are the prices that I see from Richmond Va to Nothern Va area, and you may also get into other cost if they find the timing chain is **** thats another cost just things to think about then you have the tuning everything from a mail order tune of $149 plus shipping overnight cost are about $68 I think round trip to a tuning shop $440. to $500.
Then one of the main differance that you will see from a do it yourselfer to a professionl shop is that they degree the camshaft where most do not. theirs alot more involved and liability when a shop does it verses yourself if you break it its your NICKLE if a shop @#$% up then it on them or if it doesnt run and so on

Compared to an engine with multiple overhead cams(up to 4) and miles of chain this cam swap is a breeze. Neither the intake or heads have to be removed. If you do the swap yourself(labor costs) you can buy all the special tools to do an LS series cam swap and have money left over. Then you still have all those tools in your tool box ready to do another LS cam swap. What a deal. Most people set the cam and crank DOT to DOT. If you're going to degree the cam you need an adjustable timing set to fine tune the cam/crank relationship. Most people don't install adjustable timing sets altho there are some available(Rollmaster, Cloyes, Jesel). Do it yourself and don't forget the Vinci/Crane tool. Best $100 you'll ever spend.

$2,000.00 including parts? That's well over $1,000.00 in labor. Sounds like a bargin to me. It's only money. Why get your hands dirty when you can pay someone else to do it. Don't listen to the guys on this site that tell you to do the cam swap yourself. They don't have any idea of what they're talking about. It's your car and your money and if you what to overpay to have a cam swap done why shouldn't you be allowed to do it? Tell those grease monkeys who think it's OK to do their own work to keep their opinions to themselves.

yeah that's too high.
Down here at a professional shop it's around $1800-$2000 for the cam, pushrods, dual valvesprings, dual timing chain, all gaskets/bolts/fluids, install and a full dyno tune. Around $800 more for ported ls6 oil pump, bigger fuel injectors, and an underdrive pully installed
