Default After polishing parts in the engine bay, what about the upkeep?

How hard is it to maintain that nice shine of polished metal in the engine bay? I see people with nice throttle bodies, ac compressors and all kinds of other crap but if I need to polish with a rag every weekend it's not worth it to me.

Do you guys coat your polished metal with anything or does it just stay nice and shiney?

One of the main reasons why I don't have any polished goodies under the hood . . .

Up keep =

In that case forget it. I see people just let their rims go because it's too much work, I can only think of the nightmare with all of that odd shaped things under the hood.

usually do a touch up every couple of months, and during the winter I spend alot of time just cleaning and polishing every nook and cranny in the engine bay. I usually hose down the engine compartment everytime I wash the car, keeps the upkeep alot easier

A nice coat of Zaino will eliminate such a problem, or so it has for me!

It's a labor of love for me. There's nothing more relaxing than getting out of the house, heading out the car, and polishing her up. Like I said though, that's me. Some say I'm sick, I think I'm just fine

i clean my stuff about once a month. Every winter i take all of it off and repolish it over and over. My biggest problem with polished stuff under the hood is those dang swirl marks that love to take home on my stuff drives me nuts!

It seemed to work really good.. I agree with the clear powder coat comment but i couldnt do that with the polished water pump or AC canister. The kit is enough to 1 or 2 cars (engine, wheels, etc)..

Im most likely going to clear powder my polished budniks...

Yeah.. that was me in Cali (land of few tracks) But when I got back to the east coast, it became racing and wrenching to go faster.

WILWAXU- Right on, that's cool. Guess I'm all show, no go. That's okay, I can deal.

On another note. It's sunny and 68 degrees here in SoCal. God I love it here! Maybe I'll go out and polish more of my engine bay today after work!

LOL.. sorry if it sounded like a crack.. not my intention

I loved living out there.. car culture is great. Just really missed the weekend track time. Pomona at the time was the only thing close, and it was only open on Street Legal days... about 4 times a year.

Daily driver = NO WAY It would be a lot of work.

But I will tell you after one year I have had little change with no protection on the parts. Some of my parts like the polished intercoolers have been in the rain (just a little) and washed weekly in the summer and look almost exactly as they did polished. If you are a perfectionest (like me) I am buffing them up again, lol. The second time around is a breeze, the first is rough, sanding smoothing etc., lots and lots of time involved.

Starting over with the AC canaster, lol...
