Forgot where to look...
Had this problem when I first got my 2000 Firebird. My turn signalsin dash as well as outside the car (left and right) seem to be stuttering flash (irregular interval) or sometimes just solid signal (doesn't blink). Now this problem went away when I just cleaned the bulbs. There was the yellow jelly stuff (forgot what it's called) gumming up the socket.
What I can't recall at the moment is:
1. Do I need to purchase a special cleaner? Or do I just use like a toothpick to scrape it out?
2. Do I need new bulbs? If so what's the part #?
3. Is it possibly linked to a battery or alternator problem?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

You can use CRC Electric Cleaner to clean out the socket. However, the sockets are notorious for going bad.
Trying new bulbs would be the cheaper route.
It's highly unlikely that it's a battery or alternator problem. You'd be experiencing other problems along with the light issues.

Oh, so the grease is desirable then? Is it the bulb that's going bad or the socket? y2k ta mentioned trying new bulbs but I'd like to isolate the problem to either the socket or the bulb.
