Default Move up to 175 shot!?!?!?!

Been spraying 150 for a while thinking of stepping it up to 175. What are some precausions to take. Im currently running 20* timing and running 100 octane for extra safety.

I have a HSW plate kit with lean shutdown switch with wideband, window switch, tr6 plugs, walbro 255 with hotwire kit.

Any advice or other precausions? Since the motor has 104,000 miles I would like to TRY to keep her together a little longer. It has a 228r cam and makes 400rwhp on motor.

Just one piece of info is that once you get past tr6 it is not called a tr7 ( I wish it was). It is a br7ef. I found out from the guys here on the board. Just thought I would pass that along.

I would not run tr6 on a 150 shot even with the 100 octane and the timing you have its risking it everytime you spray it.TR7 will be safe and cost you almost nogthing in the way of hp so no need to run a tr6 at 150.Soon as you hit with the 175 shot shut the motor off and check the plugs that will tell if everything is alright with the tune.100 octane is not the high of octane i would put some c-16 i believe is 116 octane but is leaded though so no can do if you have cats.If you feel the car nose over while your spraying immedately get out of it.

WOW really??? Ive sprayed **** TONS of 150 shots on tr6 plugs....Im pulling 9 degrees of timing out (actually for a total of 20* not 22*) and running 100 octane. Will no detonation plugs looked fine! So in your opinion c16 and tr7 plugs in a necessity for a 150 shot???

Weird lots of us do 150 on tr-6's with regular 91-93 octane...

+1 for switching to the 7's. I went through a bunch of tr6's like an idiot. Once you start going big with shot through a nozzle setup the back cylinders always tend to go lean, at least that's what i've seen on my car. I once sprayed a 225 hit on 6's with 104 (I know dumb move) on the dyno and toasted the ground strap off #8, toasted the strap, and blew the porcelin off #7. needless to say, spend the extra couple bucs and have the peace of mind.

You read me wrong for the 175 shot definetly use the tr7's and a spash of c16 in the tank for extra insurance. For the 150 shot i would still use the tr7 plug and use loke you said your 100 octane or c-16 in the main tank both of these fuels by me cost about the same so i use the c-16.TR-6 is a extended tip type plug that if anything with the tune is off while your spraying it will become a blow torch and cause damage do what you want this is what i've been told by people who no nitrious.

How many O2 sensors do you go through?

My mistake im running in open loop I have no o2 sensors to hurt with the c-16.I look at this way colder plug tr7 alot less likey to hurt your motor on the 175 shot tr6 your rooling dice motors aint cheap. You also might want to pick up airfuel wideband let you no whats going on,But like I said earlier read your plugs right after you spray and you should be fine.

wideband doesnt help alot. you need to pull plugs and read them. the over AFR may be ok but you cant see how lean, say #7 is

I have a wideband and a lean shutdown switch that reads the wideband if it goes lean at all the nitrous shuts off immediately.
