Default Need a fresh look at this!!

My buddies bird has a stock ls1 bottom end mti 2e heads and the x1 cam. Everything seems normal, then Out of no where it's popping a #7 cyl misfire code. So I check the wires, coil ect. Everything seems to be firing okay, then I pull the plug, and it's covered in black, and the threads have oil on them.... I replaced the plug, with a new one, the code was in history mode, cleared it, and fired her back up. No mis-fire, all is cool for about 10 mins... Then same crap. Now I'm lookin at how bad this might be, blown oil ring? Bad seals in the head?? Well I'm about to pull this thing apart, and get to the bottom of it, but if anyone thinks they might know, please chime in!!!

Run a compression test before you "pull it apart". You could swap the #7 coil and wire with #1 and see if your misfire moves. Then go from there.

If you had a broken piston or rings dont you think it would smoke like hell before it fouled the new plug?

That's what i'm thinking, maybe a bad ring, at the worst, if it was more than that, it would be alot more oil, and I'm getting no smoke. I'm kinda hopin for it to just be the seals in the head, if that's the case, it won't be down long...
