Default low rpm rough shifting

Car is an 01 Trans Am, 6 speed. The problem I'm having is that the car shifts kind of rough at low rpms. When I shift, it kind of jerks, or something... but over 2,000 rpm it feels perfect. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks.

Just the car's way of telling you to drive harder.

You know your RPMs drop when you shift, right?

If you shift at say, 1,500 RPM, you'll be at around 700-ish RPM in the hiher gear and that's lower than idle. The RPM you're trying to shift to is too low and that could cause your car to bog down.

Shift at least around 2,500 RPM for optimal drivability.

Yes I know the rmps drop when you shift.... This has been a slowly worsening problem, and it isn't the engine bogging down. It feels like something resisting... like possibly the u-joint. This is mostly when the car is cold and I am shifting below 2000 while the car warms up. And don't tell me that is too low while the car is cold, because there is an entire thread of people who do the same thing lol.

I shift around 1800-2000 when I'm just cruising and have absolutely no problem with a lack of torque, drives and pulls just as smooth as can be. Can't really help with the problem, but if you're shifting over 1500 rpm there shouldn't be a problem with shuddering.

Could there be a problem with your clutch?
