Got my Cutout! Brand,Placement, Sound, Vids, Pictures, Mods ect.
Okay guys got an early X-Mas present. A 2.5" QTP electric cutout.
I have been doing the search like any good person would do on here.
The upside: There are many posts about a cutout.
The downside: There are many posts about a cutout.
I was hoping in my quest for info to also get a cutout sticky going for our LS4's and those same questions I am asking.
The Brand: I have is QTP so I will go with that one. But please post your brand.
Placement: I think this is key topic. One reason is mods done to the car. a DP or a Res. delete or cat removal. To an extent what have you done besides the cutout to your exhaust. This will determine the sound and maybe the final placement your looking for.
Sound:
Where the DP is? Loudest?
Replacing where the Resonator and or even th cat is. Loud?
after cat? Still loud?
Just before the "Y" bend. Least cabin noise from the cutout?
So posting vids, pictures and everything you could think of to help make it easy for anyone to come in here and get thier best help in installing a cutout on thier car.
Cross examining threads is getting a little muddied in my head and it looks like a new one pops up like ohhh say Today
So here it goes:
I myself have a stock exhaust system. I had a 1994 Z28 with a cutout and loved it. It was installed just before the bend in the pipe going over the rear axle. Loved it gave it that stock car sound. Now my Z though being an LT1 had only the one cat to filter through. Our LS4's have a resonator and a cat to go through. Would putting it closer to the cat be more what I am lookng for? Maybe before the cat? Being an electric I can adjust the sound.
I love the sound ChefChub has. But his exhaust has some work done to it. So not sure how to get that sound. maybe moving it to before the cat?
Like I said so many vids and so many posts I get lost in what I like and what I forgot I liked and can not go back and find it.
and last. If you have an electric. Where did you mount your switch? Any custom or cool way's you have thought of?
So yes another one with a cutout question but I hope to gather all of these thoughts ideas pics mods and vids in one thread!

some good stuff. Again got me thinking of where to put it.
Question does anyone have a pic somehow or diagram of how our exhaust is set up under the car. Like where the relation of the parts to the car are. Like from the DP to what comes next right to the tailpipes.
I am thinking of replacing it where the resonator is but thats still after the cat right? If so that should give me almost the same sound range as my LT1's
