Default 4200 lbs 2002 Z28??

I just bought an 02 Z28 6 speed.. I looked on the inside of the door and it says 4210 lbs GW. I'm guessing that's gross weight.. But there is no way it weighs this much.. I looked at my dad's 99 Z28 6 speed and it says 4207 lbs.. What is up with that??

Unless you're hauling around 40 twenty pound bags of kitty litter and a fat chick and her two fat friends.... it's not going to be that heavy.

I just had my 99 TA weighed when I had it shipped back in July. It has a Iron Block in it and an S60. I did rip out the AC and have lighter seats and car came out to 3397lbs with an 1/8 tank of gas in it. Those numbers are no where near correct.

My stripper 2000 Z28 weighed 3350 on a scrap scale. I took out some minor stuff like bumper-supports, back seat and AIR pump, but added SFCs, nitrous-bottle and 17/275s.
Most LS1 F-bodys are 3400ish IIRC...

The number on his door sticker is exactly correct. As already explained in this thread, the number on the sticker inside the door is the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR), it's not the curb weight.

Did you read the other replies before yours?...or did you just read the first question and post?

Go look at the sticker in your 3397 lb 99 TA. I bet it says something right around 4200 lbs too...just like pretty much every other 4th gen.

GVWR is the maximum weight that the vehicles suspension brakes and drivetrain are rated to handle, including the weight of the vehicle and all cargo. If the vehicle weighs over this amount with your passengers and cargo, that number is telling you it could be unsafe to drive the vehicle as it'd be overloaded.

LOL I had a guy who use to own a 92 Z28 tell me that his 3rd gen weighed 4900lbs.... No amount of convincing would convince him otherwise and this was in a factory stock vehicle....
