Default 4L70E with stock C4 tailshaft / VSS question

Hello everyone,

I am installing a LS3 backed by a 4L70E into my 1990 Corvette. I am thinking about purchasing this adapter so I can bolt my factory 700R4 tailshaft onto the 4L70E and have a solution to mounting the C-Beam.

Adapter:

700r4 tailshaft:

4L70E:

The problem is that the 4L70E VSS won't be able to bolt onto the C4 tailshaft. I looked at the VSS from a 1996 Corvette and it looks like it will be able to work. Can anyone confirm if the 1996 4L60E VSS is a 40 pulse per driveshaft revolution like the 4L70E VSS is?

1996 C4 VSS:

Would I be able to move the 4L70E reluctor ring back to line it up with the new VSS? Would this cause any problems? I haven't had the chance to take the 4L70E's tailshaft housing off yet.

Thanks!

I think the mounting bracket on those VSS sensors are 90 tothe face of the sensor and the hole in your housing isn't locate properly to acomidate it.

Yes, the 96 4L60E is 40 PPR.

From what I can tell your plan looks good.

What would it take to relocate the reluctor ring?

I'm curious to know if you can move the one thats on there..or if you have to buy a reluctor ring made to position\clamp such as the one with this similiar adaptor kit..

Thanks for the link.

I talked to Jim at PATC today and he said that the reluctor should line up with my original tail housing if I use their adapter. I went ahead and ordered their adapter and hopefully the reluctor won't have to be moved.
