hey just wondering when you get the LS6 intake manifold is it necessary for a tune...i know a tune makes everything better but is it an absolute ?

if you plan on doing more mods in the near future then it isnt necessary to get a tune for just a ls6 intake, although with a tune u can net up to 20+ over a ls1 intake manifold, its just not worth it until you get some more mods.

With my projects in the past, ive never brought the car in for tune when i did bolts on, intake, manifold, exhaust.. never thought it would be worth doing so unless you start messing with the internals.. but im sure you would get more out of it with a tune, but with daryn c said, make the tune worth it!

I would say wait til you get done with the full exhaust and then get the tune and that will wake the car up alot with the boltons. After you do the full exhaust I say you could pick up maybe about 15-20rwhp after the dyno tune

Can always do a mail order tune like Frost, it's $140ish for the initial tune, and if you want to change the tuning for more parts within 3 months it's free and past that it's like $50 I think.
That way you can tune now and later without spending a lot more money.
However, if you want to do a dyno tune, it's probably a different story.

In all reality tho how much hp can a tune unleash after your done all of your bolt ons. LS6 intake, SLP lid, PP TB, Headers, exhaust, ETC ETC?
I mean a full on tune, playing around with the timing maybe and everything else, what could one expect in return?

When i did the LS6 swap i went to the track and ran a slower time with the LS6 rather than the LS1?? So i went and got a street tune and WOW it woke it up. I have much much more top end then before. But like everyone says, if your going to do more mods in the near future then wait. As for me i like to get every HP out of every bolt on that i do.
