Default Any Reason not to get 1 7/8" Kooks?

I am about to Purchase a Set of Kooks Headers for My Firehawk. Is there any reason I should stick with the 1 3/4" headers instead of the 1 7/8"?

I would go with the 1 7/8. Leaves you room to grow.

X2^^^
You don't want to end up spending money on the smaller versions and end up going all out on the motor and then be limited by the headers. At first my cars start as daily drivers.....but...I....Can't...resist...not.. modding them more and more.

If you have ANY inkling that you may go with: more cubes, forced induction, or wild heads and cam.....then get the 1 7/8ths. If you will ONLY be bolt ons with mild heads and cam....then stick with 1 3/4's. I have an inkling I'll be going f/i, so I got 1 7/8ths.

You can always sell the 1 3/4 LTs when you go bigger cubes and upgrade to 1 7/8s.

I think it's a waste of time and money to do this.^^ If you were ever to sell the 1 3/4's you wont get what you paid for them so you might as well make your money count.

Stay with 1 3/4". Unless you plan on running 9s you wont need 1 7/8". Track only go bigger.

Really? I has to do with how fast you run in the 1/4 mile? Definitely not anything to do with the proper exhaust scavenging due to the amount of air flowing in and out of the exhaust due to having 400+ ci or forced induction, right?

He's running with stock cubes and bolt ons. If you are going to use that logic, the OP might as well just take the stock LS1 out and put bigger cube motor "to save time and money".

If you can get them for about the same price, go bigger
If you plan to do some decent mods to the car, go bigger
if you are just doing simple bolt ons, go cheaper

look at it this way.

1 3/4's= good for stock, not for heavily moddified.

1 7/8's= good for stock, good for heavily moddified.

might as well go with the one with less cons.

Pretty much this. I wish I went with the 1 7/8 when I got my ARHs for my vette, thats 1k I do not have to spend right now though. Wish I would have just done it from the start.

You will lose TQ with the 1 7/8 on a stock motor. I did a back to back comparo on this subject, with a cam only car. It picked up a couple of HP up top, but also lost some peak TQ.

1 3/4 are plenty for a 346c.i. motor. The internet gives people the misconception that bigger is always better. That's not the case.
