Default Pacesetter headers for 01-02 but have EGR??

Ok, i ordered pacesetters for my car which is a 99 trans am, but I am doing a LS6 manifold conversion so I wont have EGR. So i figured I'd get 01-02 headers since they wont have EGR..

But these pacesetters have EGR tube on them on top of the primary... there are 2 fittings on the passenger side when there should be one, unless 01-02 had two air fittings but from what i see from Kooks, they make a different 2000 only model year header which has EGR/AIR and a header for 01-02.. pacesetter 70-2255 is advertised as 00-02...so why??

I need to have the emissions stuff there to pass inspection down in Houston Texas, but with a capped off EGR tube on these headers, thats gonna set off an alarm, unless they dont see it. I dont know.

Can i just cut this tube off and weld a plate over to block it off? What you guys do with 01-02 cars and these headers?

You have the wrong headers it sounds like. They shouldn't be advertised as 00-02. 01/02s had one air tube per side, that's it.

Yes, you can cut it off and weld it shut.

probably going to do that. Pacesetter has a different set of headers for 98-99 cars as the EGR port is in a different location and the air fittings are on different primaries

Since the AIR fittings are the same on the 2000-2002 cars Pacesetter uses the same headers for those cars. The headers for those years all come with the EGR provision that is required on the 2000 year model car. If you are running these headers on the '01-02 car, there is a block-off plate supplied that you simply block the EGR provision off. I would not cut the EGR tube off. Use the plate to block it off and hook the AIR fittings up. From there you should be good to go!
