General Maintenance & Repairs - 98 Trans-Am Security Light!!!

1998 Trans-Am. Never had a problem with the car, ever! However, I go to leave in it today and the security came on and would no go off. The car still starts and performs fine it's just annoying to look at.

What I've tried...
1. Another key, didn't change anything
2. Clean both keys, didn't change anything
3. Disconnect the battery and hook it back up, didn't change anything.

Does anyone know what is causing this and how to fix it?

the key cylinder is prob bad....

The reason your security light stays on is that your VATS (Vehicle Anti Theft System) is in Start Default mode. Eventually is will revert back to Pass/Fail mode. Then if there is a problem the light will flash and at the car will not start. Do a search for the VATS Bypass.

My TA's security light stayed on constantly. Got sick of it, so while I was installing some Macewen white faced gauges I just pulled the bulb.
