Default New QA1 "R" shocks vs. older version

does anyone know the exact differences between the two? also is the "R" more geared for a street car or a drag car?

The R only adjusts the extension. This is a good thing for drag racing (and street driving, IMO) since you can have quicker extension, for quicker weight transfer, without loosening the compression (which causes the front end to bob up and down after the launch with the older version. This looks goofy and costs you ET.)

So in theory, are they going to ride smoother or harsher for normal street driving on crappy roads???

Iv been told not to run these one th estreet, as the frotn end will extend due to even a bump/pothole in the road. The guy i get my Hal stuf from said someon he sold them to was going around a turn, hit a bump or somethign, and once the front end unloaded and took weight off the front, he went straight when the road didnt. Anyone actually drive on these?

The extension you are talking about is all you adjust on the Hal Rs. If that happened, sounds like the guy was driving around with them set on 1, which wouldn't be smart.
