any shop can run them under the axle, but if you want an over the axle job you have to find someone with a little skill.. just find another shop and tell them two 2.5 inch pipes will fit where the original pipe was....
oh and then go back to original shop and say screw you it can be done haha

look up the dynomax pipes for the v6 Fbody...its mandrel bent 2.5"
you can get the I-pipe and the over-axle pipe for a good price. then pick up an Hpipe or Xpipe and put it all together. then the only thing they have to do is mess with a few hangers and cut/rotate/extend the last bend on the passenger side over-axle pipe so it points to the back (instead of turning perpendicular to the car).
that way you maintain the dual tips.
other option is to run to chamberd mufflers side by side in the stock muffler location, and put a U bend to bring the other tip back to the passenger side
you'll end up with a routing much like these two setups...

oh well in that case...check out the TD thread.
tons of pics
here is mine after i retweaked one side the other day.
magnaflow fullsize 4x9 mufflers, 3" pipes
with a 1.2" suspension drop...i've got just shy of 2.5" of clearance. more compact mufflers would tuck up better.

Teke: Damn that's nice plumbing. I never considered true duals until I saw this pic.
I incorrectly assumed TD's would mean shitty looking pavement sparking mufflers.

haha...in the post you quoted me from....neither of those are my car.
MY setup is posted just above here.
with full size mufflers, and 3" pipes...LOWERED...i think its pretty damn good. and as stated, different mufflers would significantly change how much clearance i have. but DAMN i love the sound of the 4x9s.
but they are nice setups.
as i said you can do it relatively cheap if you use the prebent pipes. it will take some tweaking, but the time you save elsewhere is considerable

I've had shops flat out refuse to do true duals, arguing it cannot be done. Keep rolling along until some one that has a "pair" treats you right. Will 4th gen kits fit 3rd gens?

--The pics in my post, above (with the rear exits), are not my Camaro...--
YES, I scrape anytime I hit a decent bump. I'd estimate like 2 1/2 inches from the ground; it's all torn up, but I still love it
