Default FI and altitude... got some questions...

Ok so on a Forced Induction setup... when figuring boost levels, how do i figure what my boost would be at a different elevation???

Is there a formula to figure this???

EXAMPLE:

Sea level- atmouspheric pressure 14.7 + 16psi = 30.7
6000FT- Atmouspheric pressure 11.4 + 16psi = 27.4

So if i run 16psi (im at 4000ft) what psi do i have to run to make the same power as you guys at sea level with 16 psi????? Because 16psi here is not the same as 16psi at sea level correct?

Just curious.... though maybee someone could answere!!

Thanks guys!

ill wait for some super knowlegy people to chime in here too. but found this

check out 'ambient pressure' and 'boost pressure' theres also a few calculators in there.

Sea level is 14.7 psia(pounds per square inch absolute). So when you see 5 psig(pounds per square inch gauge), you are seeing 5 psi above what your sea level pressure is. So total pressure in your engine is 19.7psia. If you are at say 9000ft above sea level you are at 10.5psia and add 5 psig boost you are only at 15.5psia in your engine. So you would need to add 4.2psig of boost to equal sea level tuning.

okay so if you get tuned at sea level with this change in boost psi how would that affect tuning would you have to raise you boost pressure to equal what you were tuned at?
