Default Daily Driving P1 or D1 Procharger?

Been looking at Procharger kits from one of sponsors that includes other key items. My car is truly a daily driver - looking for any feedback from others using P1 or D1 kits on stock engines and putting some miles on their cars. I am leaning toward D1 as a forged rebuild is in my future.

Looking for real world experience - reliability, fuel mileage, fit-up issues, broken parts etc.

D1SC from EPP!

Shoot for around 500rwhp and you shouldn't have any problems

Are you a person that will want more? If so get the D1. More room to expand. One of the local GTO guys has a LS2 with a P1SC and cam making over 550 to the wheels.

Its very practical to daily drive a vehicle with a P1SC, P1SC-1 or D1SC. They are street trim blowers and ProCharger makes a great product. I've got guys running around with F1's that see a ton of street use and its still reasonable, just a little noisier

There is no reason to not get the d1sc over the p1sc.

if you are going to buy brand new go with the D1(its only a few hundred more $ difference), otherwise the P1 will support you until 700+rwhp...and if you want much more than that you might as well go with an F1 or bigger, depending on your goals...

We put the ProCharger on this GTO back in Jan of '05. This Detroit customer uses the GTO as his daily driver, he has a T/A convertible for his weekend Summer ride. He called me last Summer to get the pn# for a new blower belt. He has not had any problems over the years, and figured it was time to replace the belt. Bob

Appreciate the comments. Couple questions:

1) With 8 lbs of boost on stock car - manifolds, exhaust - what gains can be expected.

2) What gains come with long tube headers, high flow cats and cat-back (emissions state)

3) What is upper end potential as DD with forged bottom end, more boost, H/C/I change.

4) At what point does stock rear have to be replaced with 9 inch?

#3. I have seen in the 750RWHP range with a D1SC on a 402 and a sdce bracket.

#4. A. I have seen people break there 10 bolt rear end at the track with no mods at all. 100% stock motor and trans, just 275 nittos out back on the 17" rim.
B. I have also seen the other side of the scale, that same FireHawk car that made 750RWHP runs it everyday with a stock rear end....

My thing is that why get something for the time being when you have a end goal of something bigger? You will lose a lot of money on the buying then selling, have the car down for longer because of the install and removal, not to mention the money to have the work done. If you look at what the p1 is going for and what the D1SC is going for there almost double the price. You can pick up a used P1SC for about $600-$800 right now and a D1SC for $1200-$1900 for the head unit alone. If the kit new cost are only a few hundred dollars then I would say that the D1sc is a better investment. The D1SC will also support the motor from a stock 346 to built 408 and make 750-800 rwhp. I feel it is REALLY important to know what you want to do, research it, have all the stuff to do it and make it work and have the money to get the right parts and not cheap out on the kits. Do it right the first time, it save you sooo so much time and money. I would highly rec talking to Bob at EPP to get you set up with a D1SC and a Front Mount InterCooler for your ride. It is a proven set up and works geat, EPP is a geat shop with a lot of experience and great customer service.

You should be able to hit ~450rwhp.

2) What gains come with long tube headers, high flow cats and cat-back (emissions state)
This would bring you closer to ~470rwhp.

3) What is upper end potential as DD with forged bottom end, more boost, H/C/I change.
That really depends on how aggressive the Cam and overall setup is. Anything over 450rwhp is already slippery on the street and honestly way more then you need. With that said 700rwhp can be quite reliable if its built right... not cheap.

4) At what point does stock rear have to be replaced with 9 inch?
They can break at stock power. If you don't drag race at the track or put slicks on the car the 10bolt should hold up (because you'll induce a spin before you break it).

We generally see an increase of 140 rwhp with 8 psi of boost from an ATI ProCharger on an LS engine.

http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=54 740 rwhp on our Mustang Chassis Dyno, with a 346/Patriot heads/shorty emission headers and a ProCharger D-1SC. This car was driven extensively on a closed road course, it saw a lot of wide open throttle time, plus it got 28 mpg on a vacation! Bob

This is an impressive build - great selection of parts but not a budget blowing combination. This is one to copy for sure for a street going car!

Thanks for the information.
