I really don't know if this is a common thing or not. I have a 1999 T/a with the CD player (stock) and as of late, my radio cannot read ANY of my cd's, before it had no problem reading them, even if they did have a few light scratches, now it will not even play the cleanest of CD's....Any quick fix's? quick fix = get an aux adapter and plug in a mp3 player... or replace the head unit.

Yeah these stock units really suck. My T/A won't even play new cd's from time to time. Ah well, I avoided buying an ipod for as long as I could...

Wait, so you can actually buy something to plug in, or does it just go through an FM station?

There is a write up here, just search for it. But you can solder into the radio, or for about $160 on eBay there's a harness that plugs into the iPod and radio harness.

Just time to replace the whole system. Head unit blows, stock amp blows, stock 2ohm speakers REALLY blow (and blow up).

I see. Yeah, the soldering/wiring job isn't difficult but...it might be easier just to buy another head unit. What I've always loved about having the factory head unit though, is that I've never had to worry about anyone trying to steal it-people will steal a $29 Wal-mart brand stereo, but they won't touch the factory AC-Delco, lol...
