Went from my Z28 to a GXP with a new addition to the family last year and couldn't handle the FWD so I traded it on a new G8 GT! Still a 4 door to keep the wife happy but back to a RWD performance car to keep me happy. I plan on doing a Vararam or Rotofab and a Magnaflow Catback right away with a tune. Probably do a little porting on the TB and manifold as well. Just wondering if you guys know of any cheap and easy mods that are worth while to do? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Sam

I am also part of the LS4 crew. I just got out of my Monte Carlo SS and into a 2008 G8 GT with 6000 miles. LOVE IT.. It really does make the LS4 W-Body feel like a toy. How are you liking it stealth?

I just picked it up Tuesday but I love it! Lots of potential with this car where the LS4 cars you could only do so much and they were still FWD. Should be a fun build!

I have read that as well but I have had Magnaflow on all my vehicles and never had a problem with it and love the sound. I'll take my chances and if its THAT bad I'll replace it with something else but thanks for the heads up!

I had the magnaflow axle backs with the stock manifolds and cat back and it was pretty bad. Esp when the AFM kicked on. The big trunk and empty wheel well probably play a big part in it.

well i had the magnaflow cat back on my GXP i just got rid of with a hogan catless downpipe and it wasn't too bad. the AFM was REALLY annoying but i had it turned off with the tune so it wasn't an issue any more. it was loud inside the car, don't get me wrong, but it didn't "drone" so hopefully i get the same thing with this car. any other "do it yourself" kind of things i can do to this car to get a little more out of it without spending a whole lot of money???

Nice upgrade!! We have a 2008 G8 GT shop car and I think it is an awesome car. One reason I like the car is that it looks good from every angle.
BMR has acomplete line of suspension products for the Pontiac G8. We have chassis stiffening components (strut tower brace, subframe connectors, tunnel brace), bushing kits, and suspension components (trailing arms, toe rods). We will have lowering springs and sway bars soon also. Since the G8 platform is similar to the Camaro, you can expect to see more G8 suspension products in the near future.
You can eliminate wheel hop, make the car handle better, and make the car launch harder depending on far you want to go with the mods.
Here's a link to our G8 products:

Watch out for the front suspension, I had both of my front lower control arms changed and my right front strut replaced because of a clunking noise. It was a pain in the balls. I had some work done myself american racing headers, over the radiator intake, tune all the easy stuff. BUt in hindsight I should have put that money into the suspension instead of power adders.

Vararam intake + good tune = 40rwhp
Ditch the giant muffler and resonators (middle of exhaust)
Replace with 2.5" Magnaflow X and 2.5" piping and retain stock mufflers ~5-10rwhp

Yeah, i will be doing almost all of the BMR suspension upgrades with tax money along with the vararam, headers, magnaflow cat back, and tune. also some 275/35/19 rear tires to try and hook a little better!
