that's too much cam for a DD. plus you will have to re-work your heads to accept that much lift.
the xr268h is about as big as you wanna go. i was able to run this cam on a stock set of vortecs and it worked very nice, but the lift was really maxxing the heads.

[QUOTE=370 RAM AIR;12706960] remember not to over cam your engine. it's a common mistake by many new engine builders. the result is a poorly running engine and under performing
you may want to look at putting in a 2000-2500 stall torque converter while your in there
or just find a 400 small block and have the best of all worlds!
oh and if you use the 97 block, you're gonna need a new flex plate. the 1 piece rear seal crank wont accept the older 2 piece seal design crank flex plate

the 268 is almost too tame for a 400.. but good in a 350. the xe274 in a 400 would be just nice

No that was at the crank, but if I remember right that was on 87 octane. Let me do a lil research and I will post it up.
Edit: It was a Lunati BracketmasterII cam 230/230 480/480 lobe sep. 109. It made 490 hp at 5600 rpm and 529 ft lb at 4100 rpm
